Watching Someone Walking Away

Imagine, every tree we cut down, someone we love walks into the distance, transforms into a slim cypher, then nothing. Gone. Trees disappearing from Earth, this feels like watching people I love striding off.

In or into the past, once someone leaves us, they're history.

The human back akin to a landscape - side-on. Spine a concealed snake reaching into our minds from the distance where tails used to be.

Every tree we plant and care for gives oxygen more breadth. Shimmering silhouettes spin, return, fill out, embrace us when we welcome them. Alive. People we love remain here.
